This week, I used my time to finish setting up my website and complete some research on my inquiry. I knew that there would be lots of information on how to grow your hair quickly, but there is quite a bit of conflicting information and advice that has not been proven to be effective. While doing my research, I tried to only look at credible sources because most of the information on these sources was backed by some kind of scientific research. That being said, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence on the internet about hair growth tips that seemed to have worked for a lot of people, so I will be testing some of these methods to see if there is any truth behind these tips.

This week, I was focused on completing all necessary documents for my inquiry. I completed my inquiry proposal where I outline what my inquiry project will entail. Next, I finished my driving question document to finalize a solid driving question for my project. This document was very important for my project because I will be creating a hypothesis and having a driving question helps me decide on my purpose for the project. Finally this week, I completed parts 1 and 2 of my project planner. This helped me by writing down my plan for my project so that it is more organized. Next week, I will be finalizing my new hair care routine and organizing exactly how I will be testing my hypothesis.

This week for my inquiry, I wanted to beg8n to finalize my new hair routine. This consisted of gathering supplies and products for my routine, and writing myself a list of what I will be accomplishing for my hair routine each week. I was able to have Olaplex shampoo and conditioner, a bond building product, shipped to my house for my new routine. Through my research, Olaplex seemed to be the best shampoo and conditioner for hair health and growth. The brand has a large following and fan base of dedicated users. For my routine, I decided to separate what I will be doing into groups, those include washing, brushing, sleeping, heat tools and supplemental hair care. Next week, I will be finishing gathering supplies and planning the start date of my experiment!

This week, I was unable to complete weekly goals due to a knee injury. I was absent from class all of this week so because of this I was not able to further my project. Although this has pushed me back a week, I am still confident that I will be able to get back on track for a start date of November 1st! I will be making sure I have all products that I need next week and doing a practice run of my new hair routine.

Once again, I was absent all week. I am hoping that this week won’t set back my goal to start November 1st, but in the event that it does, I will push the start date back to November 8th. Coincidentally, November 8th is the start of the new term in school, so I won’t be terribly mad at about pushing it back. I have no evidence to show for work I did this week, because I was not able to get anything done!

This week was a very exciting week for me because I finally got to begin my new hair routine! I was so pumped to go get all my supplies and then try out all the new products. Along with this, I made a measurements list and put up a routine calendar that you can look at to follow along with the process. I filmed my first vlog this week (very uncomfortable) and I’m hoping that I get better at vlogging as I go on in this project! Hopefully the vlog isn’t too rough to watch! Next week, the vlog will be filmed each day and compiled on Friday, so a slight change from this weeks quick snippet of a vlog on a random Thursday! I think this week was all about getting comfortable and used to my new hair routine format and how to record the process!

This week, I filmed my second vlog and continued on with my hair routine. Following the hair routine has been a little bit tricky, especially with not washing my hair often. I want to make sure I’m following the routine precisely so I will continue to work on that. I currently have two vlogs together, but I’m trying to find a way to upload my vlogs onto my website so stay tuned for that! This week wasn’t very busy as we had half days in school and had a band production to watch. Hopefully, next week will produce some more work!

This week was very exciting for me because I feel like I’m noticing a difference in the health of my hair. We will be able to see how it has affected hair growth at the end of the month, but for right now I have noticed a difference in the quality of my hair. I can’t remember the last time it felt this soft and this strong! I am going to continue on with my routine and maybe add in some new products as well! I’m trying to remember that it is all part of the journey as well, and not to rush things too much! I will be taking some before pictures to upload next week!

There will unfortunately not be any vlog footage for this week as the only thing I could vlog would be me measuring my hair, and that footage I accidentally deleted because I am running on fumes this week:) I put in my updated measurements into the google doc, and we grew 3/4in! Yay! I am hoping for more growth next month as we continue to perfect the routine. Next week, I will be switching up some aspects of the weekly hair routine! Month one is done, and we hit our goal!

I have just died my hair dark to try and limit the need for bleach in my hair. My hair feels stronger and healthier than when we started and I’ve definitely noticed an increase in growth. This week, I did a big split end trimming session and did the slightest trim of my ends just to try and remove some of the more dead ends. The ends of my hair are still feeling a little bit compromised, but I’m hoping we can improve that!

Wow! After the complete whirlwind that was December, there is a lot to share! I was almost completely out of school for almost the entire month of December and in that period of time, a lot has happened and changed! I had surgery one week, break the next, and COVID the following! Through this all, changes to my hair have definitely happening. I broke my own rules, and attempted to bleach my hair back to blonde after dying it black. I went into the bleaching confident, as I had done it so many times before, but was not anticipating the disaster that would happen this time around. My hair was too fragile, and the bleach genuinely melted off large portions of my hair. I’m pretty positive that this is everyone’s worst nightmare when bleaching hair. When I got out of the shower, with chunks of melted hair in my hands, I knew there was no saving this. The next day, I went to my hairdresser and pulled the trigger for a big chop. Now, we have chin length hair! This has been a very insightful process even with all the trauma, and I feel that I have a lot of perspective to share. Upcoming vlogs will say it all, so definitely check it out when posted. After the month of December, I think we need to hit the restart button and reassess. More updates will come soon, but we’re still on the same journey!

This week was primarily about getting ready to re-measure and adjusting the hair calendar. This week I reformatted both the hair measurement document and went through my notes and decided what routine would be the best. Because my hair is compromised right now, which is the opposite of where we want to be, I chose a more intensive hair care routine to get my hair back to a more stable and healthy state. For this routine, I chose to use most, if not all, of the products in the Olaplex line. I will also be using K18 leave in conditioner sporadically and when needed. Next week, I will be fully laying out the new routine! So stay tuned and for now, check out the new formats in the documents at the top!

This week, I completed the new hair calendar going forward for my hair routine, with Olaplex being the main product. I also completed the new hair measurement document and officially measured my hair for the first time since cutting it! My hair is measuring in at 10.5in on 2/1/22. This means that we are hoping that on 3/1/22, my hair will be at least 11in, but let’s hope we surpass that! I’m feeling confident going forward that my hair will become healthier and will grow quicker!

This week, I focused on adding some finishing touches to my website while working on my project! In terms of the website, I’ve added a new page for pictures of my hair! There is one picture that is my hair before ever bleaching or coloring it! This was my prime hair health! Next, there is a photo of my bleach blonde hair which was damaged as much as you would expect it to be, but not awful. The third picture is when I got bored and decided to dye my hair black! The grand finale is the bleach fail, disaster of having to cut all my hair off after wanting to go back to blonde! I will be updating these photos as my hair changes and hopefully gets longer and healthier! Also this week, I compiled some research I had done into good products to buy for short hair care into a google slide which will be linked below!

This week, there was a lot of future planning for the project as the main focus. I wanted to think about what the final project will be for my inquiry, and after much debate I decided on a documentary style video. This will entail information that I’ve complied throughout my project, walking through my project, and interviewing different people on their perspectives of hair growth. Through this week, I continued my hair routine as well. Next week is school break, and right after that I have a hair appointment on March 1st which I will be going more in depth about!

This week was the start of March, which means new hair measurements! From February to March, we gained 1.5inches which is 1 whole inch above the average. On Wednesday of this week, I had a hair appointment where my hair was trimmed, this brought us back to 10.5 in. Although getting hair cuts when trying to grow your hair may seem counterproductive, it is important to trim off the dead hair so that any new growth will be healthy growth. When your hair grows with dead ends, it is more common that you will not notice any growth due to split ends splitting farther up your hair as it grows instead of getting longer. Getting regular hair trims prevents this! I will be switching hairstylists because I found a hairdresser that i believe is better equipped to achieve my hair goals with me. At my hair appointment this week with my old stylist, against my wishes, she toned my hair brunette. This was very counterproductive as my goal was to be blonde, and I already was blonde :/ after a consultation with the new stylist, she believes we can get the dark color off my hair without anymore bleach! Next week, I have an appointment with her to do so and will update on the results!

Over this past week, I was reevaluating the shampoo and conditioner that I use on my hair and whether or not it is still working for my hair. I have been using Olaplex shampoo and conditioner for many months now and started to see the efficacy wearing off. Finding a shampoo and conditioner you like and that works for your hair is great, but it is actually recommended to switch the brand or line of shampoo and conditioner every so often because your hair will begin to react negatively to your usual products after long time use! I stopped seeing the results that I had once seen from Olaplex and at that point realized it was time to change it up! Before I choose a new shampoo and conditioner, I will do research on different products to find what will work best for me!

Last week, I decided it was time to change my shampoo and conditioner, so this week I got to work to find a new product that works for me! When using a brand like Olaplex, which is full of all types of proteins, you can develop something known as “protein overload”, a term for when you are supplying your hair with too much protein that it ends up snapping off! When doing my research to find a new product that worked for me, I took into consideration that I wanted a new shampoo and conditioner that still had protein in it, but not as much and from more natural sources. Finally, I landed on a brand called Bondi Boost! Bondi Boost is a hair line that specifically focuses on hair growth and strength. I will do a more in depth presentation next week on the ingredients found in Bondi Boost! Below is a link to their website so you can check out the products!

This week, I started using the new shampoo and conditioner from Bondi boost. I am very impressed with the products and letting my hair get adjusted to the new formulation of the shampoo and conditioner. I put together a presentation on my overall thoughts for the hair are line. There are more products from them that I want to try out and will update when I try them and how they are. People have been noticing a lot of growth for my hair, which feels good to know that something must be working. Next week, I will update the hair routine document to my new updated routine with Bondi Boost. Below will be a link to the presentation on Bondi boost.

This week, I was sick and absent for most of the week, so I did not yet update the hair routine calendar. That being said, I have noticed some negative changes since using the Bondi boost. I am planning this week on going back to Olaplex to see if taking a break helped the efficacy of the shampoo and conditioner. I am hoping that this will help my hair feel stronger and will work well again. I did measure my hair for the end of March, and it grew 1 inch in a month. This is still more than the average growth of .5in/month, but it is a decrease from the previous month which had a growth of 1.5in. I will be doing some research to find out why we had a decrease in growth!

This week I focused on my hair routine and making sure it was organized. I also started to consider my final project and what I will present for it. I am thinking about doing a magazine for hair care brands and products that I’ve tried and give my rating on how well they work for hair. I will be making a physical magazine as well!

This week was very short because I left for Italy half way through the week! Before I left for Italy, I made sure that I had all of the hair care products that I needed for the trip. It was important to me that I had my shampoo and conditioner as well as other hair products so that I didn’t have to use the hotel hair products and compromise my hair. The truthful but unfortunate fact of hair care is that cheap hair care rarely ever equates to good hair care. Hotels do try to use the lowest budget products which I was not willing to use.
